Hi all, have a 2000 explorer auto 4x4 vin e with 4.0 v6. Engine went up, have been looking at used engines that are local here in md. Best I've found is from a 97 explorer. Mtr has already been pulled, vehical since been scrapped. My question is would this engine work in mine, I'll use all my wiring harness, injectors ect. Doner vehical was 4x4 with 96000 miles, vin unknown. Any help would be appreciated, or if there's something im over looking.
Thanks rob

4.0 v6 engine update

hi all, just wanted to let every one know i finished the engine install today and now is up and running.

Congratulations on replacement!

I'm sorry I missed your earlier posts. The 1997 and 1998 SOHC V6 engine had variable induction system (VIS) that was deleted in 1999. The 4WD SOHC V6 has a balance shaft that is not installed in the 2WD engines. Many members have replaced their 4WD engine with a 2WD engine and experienced no problems. Congratulations on your successful engine swap. I hope you have many more years of reliable service from the replacement engine.

30 miles so far and running good

thanks for the post 2000streetrod, been driving it today and so far so good. hopefully get 100k out of it.
