4 4 wheel drive light

Hi everyone
I have a problem with my 1997 explorer xlt when I have it in 4 wheel drive and u turn the lights on the 4 wheel drive light in the dash goes out.thanks everyone

I think that means you have a problem with your dimmer switch. I'm betting that if you disengage your O/D (push the button on the shifter) you'll see the same behavior; O/D light off when headlights on, O/D light on when head lights off.

If the O/D light doesn't turn off with the headlights on, then I'd look at the GEM.
