Doesn't the '01 Explorer and '01 Explorer Sport have the same 4.0L engine? If they do, why are they tuned with 210hp/250lbs and the XSport only 203hp/237lbs??

Also if they are the same engines is there a way to tune the XSport up to 210hp/250lbs?

Weight could be a factor.

hartman, according to what he posted the heavier one make more power....

Yeah but . .

What u said makes sense, the Explorer 4 door is heavier and there fore must need the extra power. But my Q is why not give the same power to XSport. And since it's the same engine, you must be able to make some simple tweaks to get it back to the 210hp it should be at. well atleast hopefully!

Ford probably put either a little more restrictive exhaust or the computer program is a little milder. Nothing a chip and exhaust won't fix.

Oh, I don' t think they slapped on a more restricitive exhuast, but I think the tuning is a bit milder. I was planning on putting an exhaust neway but I def can't afford a super chip as well. Is there a way the dealer/mechanic can just tune the existing chip?

Another thing to consider is that Ford could be listing the different power levels, when in fact, they may be exactly the same. Only a dyno would tell.

Maybe Ford is doing it for insurance purposes on the sport model? They're probably saying 203 but it likely makes 210 just as the 4-door.
