4 wd trans. in 2 wd.

The trans in my 92 2 wheel drive is starting to slip bad. I have a 91 4x4 that has been wrecked so I use it for parts. Is there a way to use the trans. out of the 4x4 and put it into the 2 wheel drive? I guess I can't complain it's the original trans. and has 234,000 miles on it. The 91 has just over 100,000. Thanks for the help.

yes, you just need to swap the tail housing on them so it bolts right up.

Just leave the transfer case on, and use the 4x4 rear driveshaft. It will still be 2WD but you'll have a transfer case and no front driveshaft. This way you dont need to rip anything apart.
