This past weekend I installed the remanufactured 4405 from Transfer Cases Express. Before I removed the old case (the one the dealership screwed up.....the one they'll be answering up to in small claims court) I began by removing the shift motor and speed sensors with wiring harness to clear the gas tank. Oil started draining out when I pulled out the rear speed sensor.....there was just over 3 quarts of oil in it.....nimrod technician must think quarts and pints are the same thing. Either that or it's typical of the dealership technician knowledge level....."if it makes noise add more oil". He forgot to reinstall the vent hose, too.....unless that was intentional to make it fail sooner due to water in the case.

Anyway, new one in.....works perfectly. No more noise on deceleration and it goes in reverse now (instead of sitting there making horrendous noise).

That got me to thinking.....during one of the 5 times it was in their service center for transfer case repairs I had them flush and change the oil/filter in the transmission. I better take a look at that too.

Glad she's back up and running! Sorry to hear of the dealership woes though... Good luck, and keep us posted!
