I presently have the Air Suspension Inc. system front and back on my 4th Generation Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The front airbags have collapsed twice leaving me stranded on the freeway. From what I've been told; emergency get you home bumpstops can't be mounted effectively. I am now considering a coil strut setup that will give me the same 1.5" dropped look I presently have.
I've heard coilover lowering sleeves on factory struts are an issue on most vehicles because it puts too much of a load on them if the vehicle is lowered too much. Is a 1.5" drop asking for trouble on an explorer strut?
My thinking is that the explorer strut probably has a greater range of travel than that of the average car strut, so maybe a 1.5" drop isn't that big of a deal with them??
