I am rebuilding a 4R70W transmission for 2000 V8 AWD and the mechanical diode does not rotate in either direction. I am thinking this should rotate counter clockwise with a clicking noise, but this one rotates about 1/2" both ways and then stops. Is this the failure mode for this part? There is no other apparent damage, clean, lubricated, no external part damage and no evidence of internal damage from what I can see.
Also, if this part did fail like this would it burn up the front clutch, which is also a condition of this transmission.
