4R70W Shifting funny

Hi, there is probably a post somewhere for this but my phone is slow - if so feel free to redirect me, I just bought my wife a 99 explorer xlt with the 5.0 awd (alot different under there compared to my 94) with about 200k on the clock, trans was replaced by Ford with a Reman @ 145k according to sellers paperwork - well maintained ( I can tell ) issue is the 2-3 shift, will not shift unless I let off gas for a second or two, then all good - overdrive seems a little early but solid, no slips and a great shift from 1-2 - any ideas or thoughts. No spring in the 2-3 accumulator?

Just got my 4r70w valve body off - get this - no spring in the 2-3 accumulator - went to dealer and got one to put in - assembler at ford must have been having a day!

Maybe the spring broke with the last owner and when he changed fluid and filter he removed it. And then like so many others they have no problem selling it to someone else and saying nothing.

First logical thing to check is the fluid level. It's a pain in the butt to add too much. THen you have to empty it some. And you could also check for loose electrical connectors. Not kidding, Ford could have not plugged some in all of the way and they are finally coming out.

Got it all back together and runs like a champ! Now I can take some time and play with my Olds finally for a change.

Hope the 99 is as dependable as my 94
300k all original with the exception of a water pump shocks alt and hoses
