4WD light flickers

My wifes 2001 Explorer Sports 4WD light flickers on and off occasionaly. Sometimes its the 4WD high and sometimes its the low light. It drives fine and the 4WD seems to work correctly. Any ideas?

According to some of the research I've done on this site, the flickering light might indicate a problem with the 4WD system. The number of flashes is supposed to be a code that is "readable" by the dealer to diagnose the problem. My '96 is doing the same thing but I know the 4WD works because I can feel the front tires "pull" in snowy conditions. It could be as simple as a bad sensor or worse.........
