- 2001 Sport Trac
Hello All,
I recently purchased a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac with the selectable 4 wheel drive. When selecting 4wd there were no sounds, clicking or lights. Also, the radio was completely dead. I replaced the 4 wheel drive module in the passenger side kick panel but still no change. I eyeballed the fuses and they looked ok but as it turns out they were not. (I learned that I should have tested them with a multi-tester and not just eyeballed them - oops.) I took it to the dealer and they found that fuses 29 and 35 were both blowing because there was/were a corroded wire or wires under the vehicle going to the transfer case. They fixed the wire and put in new fuses and the radio and the 4wd are now fully functional. If you have these symptoms and a new 4 wheel drive module does not fix it, corroded wires under the truck may be the issue.
