Have a '91 XLT electronic 4WD. Last winter engaged 4WD on the way to work, disengaged on arrival. Started home after work and tried to engage the 4WD and it wouldn't and has not since. Have not been able to find anyone who could tell me what the problem is.
HELP! Winter is coming on again!

Well I asume you checked all the fuses in the cab and rely's under the hood, and there is a moter on the trasnfer case to check. If it isn't that, then i would have to sat yer auto hubs are shot. They are natorious for going!!

Just how did you........

Go this long without 4WD problems. I'm just tearing my motor drive apart for the third time in my 92. There are some threads on how to repair these. First time I took my switch cover off (be sure to notch it so it aligns right) I found chunks of what I thought were nylon. These turned out to be just hardened grease. Anyway the motor commutatator needs to be cleaned up a little or the switchs are making bad contact. Be sure to note the position of the drive so you can return the motor to that posiion.
