4WD will not engage-

I have a 92 Explorer push button 4WD. When I push and hold the 4WD button nothing happens . I bought the car from my sister and she said the 4WD worked. It has 162 K mles on it. How do I check if its the motor on the transfer case? I have power to the push button switch. Thanks.

Your Question is very common and asked by many new members. The
Shift Motor Rebuild Thread is a stickie with lots of info and pictures on fixing the 4x4 engagement failure. Stickies are threads at the top of forums that contain FAQ type threads on common issues. The search feature is also very useful in finding lots of info.
