Hey guys...thanks for everyones help the past two weeks. Anyway I got my manual hubs installed, and being we don't have snow yet, I want to make sure my 4x4 is now working. I checked the 4x4 sticky, and did the self check with the front axles..they are locked. Also when I pushed the 4x4 button in the truck and locked the hubs I took it for a ride. It was obvious that when I made turns, it was rough...makes a hard "rubbing" sound. It has been many years since I had 4x4, so I don't remember if this is how it should be. I don't think I ever drove around the dry back roads though either, only turned it on when it snowed. So does this sound about right? I thought it worked last year...until it snowed and I got stuck...stranded is more like it:)

Also..last thing...when I turn the manuals, they click out, then they don't actually click again. It is hard to explain, when they are unlocked, there is no play whatsoever in the turn dial. Then when I turn them to lock them, it clicks but it does not click a second time when I turn the dial all the way. I turned it as far as it would go, but there is still some play back and forth. It just seems as though it should "click" when I unlock them and then "click" again when I get the dial all the way turned. Am I making any sort of sense?

Manual hubs won't always click or make noise when turned.

Having someone drive the vehicle slowly and watching the front hubs is probably the best way to be sure the axles are unlocked. Or, reach under the truck and see if the axle stub shafts turn freely when 'unlocked' and don't turn at all when 'locked' (and the truck is stopped). At least with manual hubs, the troubleshooting is easy.

I don't have a problem disengaging them...I just wanted to make sure that they were operating properly when engaged; which is what I was unsure about.

The hubs are normal, they click when unlocked and don't click when you lock them.
