4x4 high light is flashing randomly on the dashboard.

Hello, I have an '02 Eddie Bauer. Love it, in awesome shape and it's my baby. About two weeks ago my 4x4 high light started flashing randomly. Then it stopped. And now today as I was driving it in town it was doing it again. It will flash like 5 or 6 times then stop and do it again about every 3-4min. The truck runs fine. Engine soon light goes off and on at times but had it checked out already and it's just an O2 sensor going out. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Wanted to add that I heard
The powertrain control module has detected a malfunction - could just be a sensor problem.

I'm a chick OK, but I'm not dumb so bare with me lol. How would I have this checked out without Ford ripping my wallet apart?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 2002-2005 section. Some auto parts stores could read the codes for free for you, but keep in mind that not all scanners are capable of reading manufacturer specific transmission codes. You might have to go to a transmission shop for that. Some of them might read the codes for free if you find a friendly shop.
