4x4 Not Engaging and Check Engine Light On

Help! 4wd is not engaging, neither hi or low and the service engine light is on. Over the weekend, we used 4wd low and put the truck into neutral to let it reset itself. We always heard the click before putting it back into drive. Any ideas on what the problem could be? It's snowing and we really need this! Thanks!

Sounds like its the shift motor but that is a blind guess without any first hand diagnosis. By chance does the 4WD lights flash? If so, you need to get the truck scanned for codes. If you need the 4WD system now, you can try to pull the negative terminal for 10 minutes to clear the computer. Not sure if it'll help in your situation but I've seen it work.
