I just had my 03 explorer in to have repair work done after the timing chain tensioner? failed. I picked it up this weekend after the shop was closed. I noticed the radio wasnt working, no big deal replaced the fuse and it was fine. Then I noticed that the light on the 4x4 low button is on, it doesnt seem as bright as usual but it is on. It doesnt feel like it is in 4x4 low. I tried switching it from 4 low, 4 high, and 4 auto, but nothing seems to happen. I have never had any 4X4 problemsbefore this repair. Is this just a coincidence or Is there something they would have done that would have caused this? Any ideas on repairs? Thanks.

Take it back to the repair shop that did the timing chain tensioner job. If the radio fuse wasn't blown and the 4x4 system worked fine prior to dropping the vehicle off with them, then I would suspect they did something wrong to your vehicle during the repair. Possibly shorted something out electrically which would explain the blown fuse. Check the fuses to the 4x4 system as well, should be fuses #17 & 18.

Thanks for the help. I checked the fuses earlier and they looked ok, but I went and replaced them anyhow and that fixed the problem. Thanks again.
