4x4 problems

i got a 98 ranger stepside 3.0l v6 4x4 and the four wheel drive will not work not the switch , the lights are blinking , there no sounds of engaging from the motor underneath , nothing ,all the fuses are good , i put a test light on the switch and harness underneath still nothing , i donno if it has anythign to do with the computer , i've been at this now for weeks and weeks i'am on the verge of bringing it to the scrap yard, can somone please help me with this problem ?
