1994 Ford Explorer 2 door
I read somewhere that these x's came with both an open diff and a limited slip. mine is a 94 2 door btw. Is this true? I have owned mine for about 2 years but just finally got around to installing the new hubs. Old ones where bad when i got it. I have had it in the air several times but never did turn the tires to see what happened. When it is in 4x4 high or low it feels like something with lockers when turning. I have had it stuck and most of the time all 4 spin but not always. I have owned many wheeling rigs in my day but have never had a stock one pull like this does. Is this just an aggressive limited or what? and why can i not post a picture on here?

If you look at your door sticker, look for axle code, post it here someone will tell you if you have limited slip or not. Upload you picture to http://imageshack.us/ and post the link to you picture.

under axle on the sticker it says 41

You dont have limited slip. I dont either, but sometime all 4 do spin, sometimes they dont.

just seems so harsh turning. Only other rig i have had feel like that was my 76 f-150 but it was full time 4x4

No first gen had ls in the front.its just the way there made or you may have a bad u joint up there

I had similar issues, finally discovered I was missing the axle spacer splined washer and c-retainer. Without those, the passenger axle can shift axially in the spindle, and if it slips in to far, the hub cannot engage it. Check to make sure you have those parts.

I just put manual hubs on it. Just seems to grab the ground real good for open diff's is all
