4x4 vs AWD

hey guys i got a 93 limited 4x4 right now and i want to buy a 5.0L. Did the 5.0l ever come with part time 4x4 like my 93? is there a way to disengage awd?

If you goto the usefull threads forum and search for brown wire mod you'll find a how to on how to disable the awd so you have true 2wd. I'm thinking that only the 5.0's with the switch that has an "auto" setting can be modified. I think all the 5.0's are awd though

You cant disable the awd on the V8. The brown wire mod is for the 4wd auto feature.

Crap..sorry about that! I knew that it was for the expo with the auto setting...i didn't know the 5.0's came with something other than all wheel drive (but i thought that the auto setting was awd lol). Sorry for that again, thanks premier for correcting me

You can pull the front shaft on the AWDs.. but it makes if difficult to put it back into AWD if you're in the ditch, or a mud pit, or in the snow, or wherever.
