2002 Ford Explorer
First timer here and after reading this forum in the past I must say this is without a doubt the place to be. I have 2002 Explorer(4.0L V6) Limited and I'm trying to right all the wrongs at once, get it over with. I had the typical coolant leak which thanks to previous threads I replaced the thermostat housing(upper and lower) myself and all is well, total job $60 took about an hour. Anyone looking to do this job and needs details just let me know.

Ok so now I'm looking to fix the 4x4 which currently I have no four wheel drive at all. Which my make and model should have 4x4 in auto. The 4x4 high and low buttons do not light up when pushed, vehicle is in neutral with brake depressed, no flashing, no clicks etc. Turn the key and the 4x4 low does momentarily light up at the gauge panel but that's it. All signs point to the 4x4 control module right? Should I check anything else before replacing? Also, I have part # 1L24-7H473-AG which I can't seem to find for less than $200. Anyone happen to know a replacement model that would work for this vehicle?

Lastly, my wipers work in high and I guess medium but I have no delay and they will not park themselves when turned off, they just stop wherever. Also, if I hit the washer fluid they will run on medium speed until the vehicle is turned off and key removed. After reading it could be some relays, a bad solder, bad wiper motor etc. but I'm not sure what and where to check first? Maybe the symptoms could tip someone off? I hate to start replacing multiple parts if I just need one.

Sorry for the lengthy first post and I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks again for the help in the past and I hope to return the favor.

I believe that 4x4 control module can be had from RockAuto for about $170.

Update, found a 4x4 control module locally for $40 ands shazam back in business. Simple fix for a major issue and being that my vehicle is auto 4wd this was crucial. I checked the pull a part lots and not one vehicle still had the module so it's a hot item. Thanks everyone for the previous posts and hope you have as good of luck finding one as I did.

Hey there. Was the new module you put in have the same part # on it? I have no 4x4 either. Just not sure if you can use another module with a different part #

Thanks bud

Hey 2step, mine ended in AG and apparently that part # is interchangeable with the one ending in AH, I found an AH and it worked but not sure on the others. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. I talked to someone at a junkyard supposedly they are interchangeable from AC to AH. That was for an 02. but who knows if that's reliable

My original was AD and was replaced with a AG. Unfortunately my problem wasn't fixed

What was your solution to the wiper issue you were having?
