5.0 2wd PCM issue

Curious if anyone can shed light on testing or maybe a path to follow?
Trying to determine if my PCM is bad or if I may have a wiring issue.

Hooking up Scan tool device I bought from James Henson and it says
"UNK"
And no VIN read.

If its a simple swap with another PCM. So be it. Just curious if others have had this issue.

Mine is possibly more complicated because its in a Volvo. So no big surprise if its not the PCM.

Just not sure where to start.
Hoping someone has a clue. (before I bug James)

Also......... will 4wd or AWD PCM work in place of a 2WD PCM?

Is it a Volvo engine in an Explorer or the other way around? I wouldn't go thinking you need a new PCM just because the scan tool says unknown. Give a little more info on what you have.

Its a 1980 Volvo with a Explorer 5.0 installed.
I think I may have it figured out but I will wait and see what James tells me.
