5.0 Exhaust Question

I just have a quick question about exhaust. I don't really have much money and I was wondering if I just rip off the muffler and put a piece of pipe in its place how does it sound. It will be pretty much strait piped besides the cat but I don't want it to sound bad. I was wondering if any of you have heard it like this or know how it sounds.

Doesn't anyone know how a strait piped 5.0 explorer sounds?

Really loud I'd assume. I don't like the sound of straight-pipe vehicles.

sound loud, like a flowmaster at Wide Open Throttle, only all the time. You'll need to get a 'Y' pipe to bring the 2 pipes together into one. It'll droan and steady state crusing, and be obnoxious at idle too. But probably no louder than some of the crappy aftermarket exhausts that are being used on imports.

I ran mine with straights for about 2 days and it got annoying. I was glad to get a mufflers on. Very loud, you will turn heads, but you'll also lose a little low end power.

Even an inexpensive "cherry bomb" straight through glass pack is better than a straight pipe and not that much more expensive (and "more" legal than a bypassed muffler)

anymore comments?

I'm about to ditch the rear cats and install a couple of moroso spiral flow mufflers w\chrome Z28 tips exiting in front of the passenger side rear wheel. You should try this instead of the glasspacks.
