pur pony,

i'll be interested to hear what they say.

I ahve heard of a guy own hhear in south FLA who got a superchips chip to raise the limiter to over 6000 rpm, but the bad news is that is took superchips 6 times to get it right. I guess he kept having to send back to chips and wait for them to send him a new one.

please post superchips response.

thanks,

Andrew

hey please give me some credit for getting you the shift kit quadcam. any one with v8 explorer with a e-cam needs to rev it a little higher but superchips takes to long to get it right. this is why i stop ordering chips for trolls truck because of was tiered of them waisting my time. the 6 chips from the guy in lauderdale plus trolls 4 chips. that means superchips has a 1 and 10 chance of getting it right. that ant so good. i will be getting chip tunning softwhare soon and then i will make a chip for quad cam to shift at 6250.

hey guys- i was thinking about my superchip... I have had it about 2 yrs.... an have been trying to remember what they did say. I think it was- if I wanted my rev limited set higher they where going to "TRY" they put it.....
After checking today- my rev limited is around 5100-5200...
a remember writeing at the top to see of they could set the rev limited to 5800... but they didnt do a very well jub- like everyone elses-

what other chips have anyone had luck with... I would live to rev out to around 6 grand and install that ship kit- I think that would kick a$$

if you can wait a little while. when i get the softwhare i will do a 6250 chip for troll and quadcam i will see what i can do for you. if not there are a couple of othere guys that might be able to pull it off.

that would be cool ExplorerDady-
let me know how you make out.... that wont mess anything up going beyond the red-line 6000???
I would be very interested though in a chip...
sorry for my last post- boy I coudlnt spell.... i was having dinner and writing at the same time-lol
my e-mail is Saleenlimited@yahoo.com... drop me a line if you can do something about getting me about 6000

how does that work... can you just reprogram a superchip or can you buy some type of blank chips

in response to the original intent of this topic ;)..

I wouldn't exactly call mine a "sport truck", or even an explorer, but I do have the ford 5.0L engine..

19861_50_full.jpg

my mods have been.. clear corners/tails rims, underbody neon and interior neons in the floorboards, the engine is fine, its worth saving the fuel economy to not upgrade for performance

the Ford 5.0 is one of the best motors ever built. the only problem is the explorer computor needs a little work. it is a good base to start with.

I second that statement ExplorerDady-
I love 5.0's

Well, I LOVE my 4.0! ;)

now that I know how to post- here ya go

supercharged?

whered ya get that? and how much was it? I've had many dreams about being able to get the word "supercharged" placed below my v8 symbol, and it be the real thing.. but from what I've heard.. $4k? and you hafta mod the hood? doesn't look like you have any mods on the hood there...

DarkFox1-

I love being supercharged!
The kit I installed was around $2600 at the time of purchase.. they have come down- I have the powerdyne kit but with a 9lb pulley up-grade instead of 6lb. The kit was very easy to install ( about 5hrs ) Powerdyne is the only company I can think of that makes a direct bolt on kit labled explorer ( except a roots style like eaton ) Powerdyne is also used on the Saleen Explorers. If I was to do it again and now that I have my mustang and see how the explorer V-8 and the stang are I would have gone with a paxton kit for a mustang and just made some mods to it. I just personally like paxton best
But the powerdyne is a nice easy to install street blower!! mustang guys will tell ya the powerdyne is a no-no but they are looking at it from a drag strip point of view. the powerdyne is a great street blower though- I have been running it for 2 yrs with not a singe problem and love it.
I also have a cam, headers, full exhaust, roller rockers, fuel system and more- and it will surprise many cars out there.
but you would be amazed at what 6lbs would do to a stock explorer compared to stock...

no mods to the hood.... if you look at my motor and are not really looking for a supercharger- you would not even know it was there- fits like a glove and looks almost stock

you can purchase through http://www.explorerexpress.com or I bought direct from the factory.

Nice thing about this over the eaton roots is- its up-gradable to more boost in the future unlike the eaton. I believe the eaton is only 6lbs- correct me if im wrong

good luck
its a blast to drive

not bad at all, $2600.. I could amass that kind of money to blow in not too long a time ;).. the only problem would be validating this with my parents (I'm 19), they already beleive the vehicle is on the virge of "too much power" this coming from someone who used to drag race.. go figure.. I get irritated about that sorta thing with them.

I may just look into it.. any day now I'm getting a flowmaster 50 series dual in/out muffler-back (if theres such a word) system.

one thing that concerns me though.. out of all the mods you have.. don't some of these confuse or mess up the computer? I mean, its designed for the stock 5.0L.. and with a supercharger, and headers roller rockers (which I'd LOVE to have also) it doesn't act funny?

as soon as I'm done with my apperance mods (which should be soon) I'm going to try and move onto performance.. so I don't look like a really nice looking turtle.. after I do alittle work on our belair first however.. its exhaust leaks at every bend and now its beginning to leak tranny fluid :(

Darkfox1-

I am 21 and there is never enough power- lol.... my dads loves power to so I can talk him into anything- we are in the middles of building a 800hp street stang.
but anyways- abotut eh stock computer... I have a superchip that was custom programmed for my mods- its an ok chip- nothing great.. and yes- once in a while a get a little screw up here and there- but I have an appointment for Jan 9
my truck is going in on the dyno and they are going to burn me a custom chip while my truck runs- so its exact- that should fix everything.
nothing beats being blown

hrmm, isn't that alittle costly? I mean, heh, I didn't really like spending the $700 for my grill guard.. but I love the look of it..

I've been noticing recently how slow my vehicle really is.. in order to do anything I hafta basically floor it.. and after it runs up past 4500 rpm.. it just smells bad.. I'm thinking the exhaust might help.. you suppose I will be able to tell a diff with just exhaust?

I dont know- some people say you can but I dont really think its that noticable. Thats the first thing I did was exhaust-
Took it to an exhaust shop and had them bend and install a new cat back system 2 1/2" with a 2 chamber single muffler-
dual inlet/ dual outlet.... with chrome tips
after that I had them bend me to short pipes- about a foot long to follow the shape of my cats... then at my dads machine shop I made a plate in the shape of the factory cats so now I am running no cats- Just Ford motorsport headers, and a straight throught exhaust with the 2 chamber- its loud and sounds great- when it idles with the cam lope- sounds just like a stang!
but all the other mods make a BIG difference.. I can be cruising on the highway at 60 and just step on it- costant fast pull all the way to 120 like nothing- lays you right back in the seat- the only problem is an explorer wasnt designed to go over 120 i think- lol

my friends company superstreet that did most of the work on troll truck are powerdyne dealers. you can get the kit from a lot of poeple.purepony do you have a boost gauge becuase we where only making 6 pounds with the 9 pound pulley with the stock kit. this was all back in the day of course. we finally put the race only little pulley to get 9 to 10 on the street. you have all most the same setup troll had back in 97 wow how things have changed since then any ways i hope you get every thing setup right with your chip who is doing it for you and dont over pay there is nothing like getting ripped off.

glad you said that. what are all these guages you have pur pony? do you require one for the supercharger? I relaly dont want to add anything interior wise as far as guages go..

troll explorer has no gauges except for one little tiny boost gauge hiden in the ash tray. you dont need any thing pretty much.
