I am starting this post because I am wondering what would have to be done to put a 5.0L in a 1993 explorer XLT

this swap takes lots of : time, money, fab and friends

i am currently helping an old friend of mine do the same thing in his 91 xlt...if you want any info or advice pm myslef or golli, we will be more than willing to help you out.

Your best bet would be to buy a rolled/totalled explorer with a 302, and Just swap the parts from that onto your truck.

would other cars with the 302 work like a mustang, or lincoln mark 7 and so on?

yeah but the donor car wont have all the parts you need, best bet is to find a rolled explorer or mounty like someone said, they have everything for sure, including driveshaft and awd components

I survived a v8 swap on my '93. You might want to read over some of my website http://bart.is-s.com/~explorers

I used a mustang ho motor and an AOD trans. Then I put in an 4R70W trans for better drivability.

I'd echo the comments on trying to find a complete totaled v8 explorer to do your swap with. It will save you time and some money.
