Just bought a 98 XTL with the 5.0L V8, with 165K miles on it. Basically in nice shape except it has an oil leak that drips mainly on the front crossmember. Appears to be coming from near the oil filter, driver's side. I was thinking maybe the oil pressure sensor, because it's a significant drip. It's far enough front I'm thinking probably not the oil pan gasket, but then I'm no excuse for a mechanic - maybe just wishful thinking. Farther back the undercarriage is pretty clean and dry - most of the oil is on or around the front crossmember. Anybody have a similar problem, or any recommendations?
