Everyone seems to be talking about those polished metal intake pipes (though I wonder if the stock plastic one is really restrictive), yet nobody here has mentioned anything about extrude honing the GT40-like intake manifold runners. Do aftermarket intake runners for Mustang 5.0 engines fit the Explorer? Would this even be feasible?

After installing a chip, a KKM filtercharger and Borla Exhaust, I can't really think of anything else (short of headers), that I can do to improve my V8 performance without taking the engine out, changing the cylinder head, and rockers.

Any ideas on this or has anyone out there tried this? Btw, I live in California now.

Troll is running a stock 5.0 explorer upper manifold powerder coated black. and a hand ported Ronie Crawford stock lower. his car is make about 500 rear wheels. there may be more power found in changing it to one of the aftermarket manifolds but the stock one works well enuf. there are a couple that would fit ok but you will need to modify a couple thing as is none of that stuff is a perfect direct bolt on.

Many Mustang owners swap on an Explorer intake because it flows like a Cobra or GT40. It is great in stock form, but extrude honing would improve it.

How about gears? Thats a good mod for improving performance.
