Pirate was the first to know of my news...

Now it is your turn...

Just got off the phone with Advance Adapters and I was told that they got word today that a 5.0:1 Atlas 2 will be in production sometime this year!

From what I was told, they will be using the same case as the present ones, so you could purchase the gearset alone to upgrade your present case if so desired.

All I know about pricing was that it would be the same as the 4.3:1 cases.

Thought you would like to hear it!

 that will be amazing. It will be interesting to see that in action

sorry for my stupidity,, but can you explain what this is exactly? id like to know for future reference

Cool news

Thats low. Maybe too low for some wheeling.

I wish AA would come out with a 3 speed transfer case. With say 1:1, 2.5:1, and 5 or 6:1.

Good news though.

Thanks

thats why you just shift the tranny into 2nd or 3rd. that thingy on the steering column has multiple positions on it for a reason.;)

sounds nice. i have plans to replace the Dana20 with a 4.3. hopefully the five will be out by the time i get ready to upgrade. :bounce: then i can keep the 4:56's with no issues.

Sounds baddass, and if the 5:1 will cost the same as the 4.3:1 will this mean the 4.3 will come down in price? How about a "half off" sale to celebrate the release of the 5:1 or something. Hell, anything to get it down to something I could feasably afford.

EDIT: oh jssong, it's a transfer case, well, more like the transfer case. It's gear driven instead of chaindriven, it's a manual transfer case unlike my sissy ass electronic one. It's also got a lower 4wd low that can be up to 4.3:1 ratio, not like our 2.69 or so to 1. There's also the whole you can just run front low, or rear high any combo you can think of. We all want one, and there's about nothing out there to compete with it. Although when you think of it, it's just machined gears and all (yes there's more, I know, but still). I mean there can't be that much technology in a transfer case right?

Even in 3rd gear (1:1) the reduction with a 5:1 would be close to a 2.5 low, and first gear, leaving no room to upshift if needed in cetain terrains like sand, or mud. Not complaining just think a 3 spd TC would be decent for those who run a variety of terrain-rocks,mud,sand,snow,dirt which all have various gearing requirements.

The 5:1 would allow running a much higher axle ratio so you could keep some highway milage, but if you are running 5:1 highway driving may not be much of a concern:D

I don't know anything other than the little that my contact there knows. When he said it will probably be the same price as the 4.3 leads me to believe they won't be dropping the price of the 4.3.

The 3.0 and the 3.8 are the same price.

Actually there are six options. N- N, L-L, H-H, N-H, N-L, L-N. You cannot put the front in H only and you cannot put the front in low and the rear in high (and vice versa).

Yes and no. The technology isn't so much in the operation of the case, but the methods in which it's components are made. The case is made from ONE piece of aluminum.

Just run bigger tires!!!

I think a 3 speed would be nice as well. However, if people have trouble with the price of an Atlas now, I can't imagine what a 3 speed one would cost.

Well, I guess I can. Take the price of a Klune-V and add it to an Atlas, because, in effect, that is how to make a 3-speed t-case.

5:1  :bounce: :bounce: :D

hmm. . .now the only problem is upgrading the brakes so you don't have to pop it in Neutral to stop ;) Well, that and the fact that your high speed in Lo will only be about 15mph. :o

However, I think I'd rather see a Klune V that would bolt to our tranny.

Easy, but not cheap, solution that allows you to keep the 4.0L and requires NO adapters, but a new transmission.

84-85 Ranger/BII C5 bellhousing
4wd C4 transmission (EB, F150, Bronco, etc.)
Klune-V
Whatever fawking t-case you want :D

Yes, well, I think I'll have to wait till my rig is a trailer queen to do that.

SWEET! now I need my transfer case to give me an excuse to uprgrade. And I need a raise.;)
