Has anyone had any issues with there driveline seperating after the 5.5 lift? I went muddin this weekend and right after I got out of the trail my driveline came apart. I bought a junk yard one since my splines were trashed. I also loosened my axle and rotated it up a little before I put the new one on but I noticed that it seems it is barely long enough. The lift has been on the truck for 3 years and this is the second time this has happened.

most people do not have problems with losing the driveshaft....... a lot of it has do do with the type of terrain you are on, and what type of extremes you partake in..... were the splines twisted as having to much power, or did the 2 pieces just undo themselves?

well I was in snow and couldn't go anymore forward (2HI) so I went reverse and it came apart and just started flopping around hard. The splines were @ a 45 degree angle instead of straight at the last half inch or so. Thats why I had to buy a new one instead of just putting it back together.:(

When I had my lift installed, the shop showed me just how short my old driveshaft was going to be. We decided to retube it 5" longer and I've had NO trouble with it!!! I have done some pretty nasty trails without any prob's. I flat tow my X at the moment, so I pull the driveshaft out while it's being towed and I get to inspect the u-joints and all that and it doesn't show any signs of compressing too far or anything.

You did the SOA mod of course???

Some folks will claim you don't need to lengthen the driveshaft, but IMO i'd rather not have to worry about it.

just my .02 worth.
