5.5 is on its way, what will go wrong?

Ive got a 92 XLt 4wd 4dr, and my 5.5" superlift kit is on its way. Im going to buy spring perches from a local shop along with brakeline, maybe shocks. What i am wondering is, after looking around on different 5.5" thread i see some people complaining of many differnt problems ( driveshaft is to short, shocks rub, problems with getting it aligned, ect.) ive tried to go around and do this but there are so many it would take forever to sort em all out, i have a u-joint type driveshaft, so im not worring about the angles of the perches, im just going to level them out and weld em fast. Also i plan on reinforcing the drop brackets, as ive heard they can be a bear. Anyother big things i should lookout for? Keep in mind, while shes not a pavement queen, i dont go and beat the hell out of her either, just some muddin on the weekends and a few trips to paragon every year. Other than that, shes a daily driver.

Well, i run the kit and have no complaints, i don't rub any where and i run 15x10 wheels, the only thing i did rub on at first was my fenders when i first lifted it but took care of that with a sawz all and grinder ( not just a hack job tho ). I can turn my wheels from lock to lock and not rub a thing. As for spring perches you do want to spend some time here, your rear drive shaft has 1 u-joint at each end so you must make sure the angles are correct otherwise you will have problems. Just get some angle finders and set them up according to the stock perches, once they are parallel, tack them to the axle and weld them down. I set mine up this way and it drives perfect at any speed. Im not sure what kind of welder you are going to use but make sure it is not 115v MIG, it will not penetrate deep enough for a strong weld. Every truck is different so its hard to say whether you will have to lengthen your drive shaft or not. But for some mudding and regular on road travels you should be fine. Its just when you start heavy offroading you may experience it come apart. The superlift brackets do require some upgrading, sounds like you have access to a welder so i would suggest you strengthen them up. Use the SJ brackets as reference and use gussets in similar areas. Also reinforce the brackets in the centre, i just used angle iron and cut it to fit then welded it in there. I have a few more gussets to stick on mine as well, but you can make them alot stronger. wheel Alignment shouldn't be hard for the right tech, but sometimes finding the right tech can be hard.
