I have an 03 xlt with the 4.6 and the 5R55 auto trans. Perhaps it is just me but it seems that Ford has really built an aweful smooth shifting (slipping) trans. I don't have any other experience with Ford auto trans. Also it seems that there is some type of retard built into the pcm program. I mean that after a given shift there is a bit of a delay before the engine produces power/acceleration.
I am told that this is normal for these Fords.
My question is whether or not someone makes an aftermarket program to firm up those shifts and remove those pesky delays, or would some sort of mechanical shift kit eliminate this problem. I have heard of such devices for the 4R70w trans but have no experience with this 5r55 trans.
