I tore down my valve body a few days ago and saw that I was missing my EPC screen and also my EPC valve and spring. The last time that my transmission was rebuilt was a few years ago by ford. When I noticed that it was missing and went and ordered another one. Well today I went to pick up the parts and when I did I had two problems. The first one was that the valve wasnt metal, and the second was it didnt come with the springs and the springs werent orderable because they were part of the valve body assembly. So I would have had to order a brand new valve body just to get that spring. So since it didnt have one before and ford was the last guys touch it, should I just put it back on without it like it was before or keep searching for someone that sells that spring??

I recommend you review the 5R55E valve body diary and in there you will see a modification kit that ford put out. They have eliminated the black button/spring/screen for the EPC limit circuit. Was there a reason you took the VB off?

The EPC limit valve, spring and screen were eliminated with the installation of the service replacement separator plate and new EPC blow off valve.

It's normal.

Some vehicles built prior to 12/1/2001 may exhibit the following shift and engagement conditions:

No 2nd Gear
No 3rd Gear
No Engine Braking In Manual 1st.
Out of specification pressures controlled by the transmission main control valve body separator plate may be the cause.
