5R55E lock up - what controls it?

I wouldn't give up so soon, I had problems with my '97 Mazda; flaring shift and no overdrive. I followed the advice here and ordered a reworked valve body which cured the flaring issue but didn't fix the overdrive problem. Two more things I plan to try that are checking and cleaning the speed sensor (I can't remember the acronym) and checking tightening the OD band. Both are covered on this site, I just need to find thread and make it happen. One of these might fix your problem,

Compatible w/5r55E?

I've got a 2000 EB 4WD and I assume it has a 5r55E trans, but does anyone know if it is and if the 98 and/or 96 4.oL trans are compatible? Where does anyone find this info?
