My title may seem weird but with some newer vehicles you cannot manually put it into first so that is why I am asking. I have just put a newer used trans into my 98 Ex. since then I have not been able to pull it down into first. I want to know so if it can I can get it readjusted. Sometimes you need to put it in first and 4-lo.

If you are sure the external linkage is correct you may want to remove the pan and inspect the internal linkage, this way you will be able to see why the linkage won't go to M1. Hopefully you wont find and metal pieces blocking the linkage, sometimes the band struts fall out when the band breaks and the struts find there way to the manual linkage and jamb it. I have seen the several times. If one of the bands are broken you won't have either 3rd gear or missing 2nd and 5th.

Thanks James for the info. Other than not going into 1st. I don't have any other problems shifts in to every gear in D. O/D switch works also.
