6" x 8" Speakers

I have a 2002 Explorer in which I am looking to replace the factory speakers. Any suggestions on what to use with a factory radio? I do not have a sub-woofer set up. Please specify model numbers as well if you would.

If you still have a factory radio and factory speakers, my first choice would be to replace the radio, then replace the speakers. IMO, you will get a better sound quality increase from a new radio w/ factory speakers than new speakers w/ factory radio.

Are your speakers having problems or are you simply looking for high sound quality?

I had the original head unit and speakers in my '02 and they were crap. I replaced the factory head unit which had the disc changer with a Sony CDX-GT640UI, found it the cheapest at newegg. The sound quality was the difference between night and day.

I didn't see the point at replacing the speakers or the sub-woofer which isn't working because the sound is so much better with just the new head unit.

Anyone put a subwoofer into an 02 that didn't come stock with one? It seems to me that I read that the wiring was already there in the back under the panel.

the wiring would be their for the stock sub probibly,

i put in a 15" in my truck, i ran all my own wires, it`s only 3. it`s not hard. through the firewall, under the consol, under the floormats and then i got my amp in my front hatch in the cargo area of my truck. never had a problem.

I want to replace the speakers in my 2002 eddie Bauer. I have the system with the 6 disc and sub woofer, it sounds great but just not loud enough, especially with satillite radio. What size speakers are in the front and back? Do you think I can replace the sub woofer with a better one?
