7-pin Circuit Breaker(s)

I had an electric brake controller and 7-pin trailer connector installed by a local very reputable installer a year ago. Long story short, the Ex is not delivering enough power to the trailer to charge the trailer's battery. The in-line cb's that were installed with the new wiring are OK.

Are there any other factory cb's that could have tripped that I don't know about? There's nothing I can see in the owner's manual that identifies a 7-pin cb.
 






Grab a multimeter and check to see if there's 12V+ on the leads that are supposed to charge the battery. If there is it's probably corroded connector terminals. If not, the installer/company owner is the one to ask which circuit was tapped into for that.
 






Test the aux pin on your tow vehicle side connector. On 7 pin connector I believe it is at the 11 or 1 o'clock position. Do the same check on the trailer side. If you read 12v on both, then appropriate wires are in place. If not, then clean the leads to see if that helps. Keep in mind that the charge from the tow vehicle is carrying a long distance across the wires so don't expect the trailer batteries to charge like the tow vehicle's battery does through its alternator. Suggest charging trailer batteries in full and disconnect or if you have a switch, set to off, if you don;t need 12v for anything in the trailer during towing.
 






What size wiring was used to install the plug? The installer may have assumed that you wouldn't be towing anything big enough to have a battery and used small wires to make it work. The charge wires IMO should be at least 10 guage all the way to the main battery.
