8.8 inch axle housing?

If anybody looked at my thread "ever thought about this" knows my interest in mustangs. I know that I had the cast 8.8 housing in both my mustangs and put in Moser 31 spline axles and cut off the axle ends and welded in the venerable 9 inch mustangs housing ends and bearings.
I just wanted to know if anybody has had their welds break or perches bent, and how did they solve this from happening again?

Yeah, I use to weld mine too in my bracket car..Wouldn't recommend it in an off road vehicle..You brake one on the strip or street thats ok, load it up and drag it home..I can't imagine breaking an axle 10 miles deep in the woods, mud dirt and sand..Figure in one recovery trip and lockers are really not that exspensive and they are reliable..lol
