8.8 trac loc 4.10 gears swap

I found a great craigslist deal on a 8.8 track loc 4.10 complete carrier assembly with the ABS tooth ring. It's for 31 spline axles but he also says he has the narrow ones for the explorer. Can I just swap this right in? It's only 75 bucks, if it's possible to do then I might do a guide while I do it. I'm just a little confused on the regular 31 spline/narrow 31 spline difference

Did you read his add right, meaning it comes with axle shafts or housings also? Cause there are different length axle housings and axle shafts. The Ex use the shorter housings.
But if it's just the carrier then I would think they're all the same, I would think.
Send him some questions.
