Getting close to turning 80,000 on the X. Just wondering what opinions are of things I should get flushed/replaced/looked at. Last time I was at the shop for on oil change they said the transmission needed a flush. Please advise.

I would do the following:"

Change oil/filter. I would use synthetic oil
Flush the tranny and use synthetic ATF
Change the rear end and use synthetic
When was ciilant last flushed? Maybe its due too.
Check condition of all hoses.bely
Check tire condition/pressure

Good luck.....

I don't know if yours has one but maybe in addition to flushing the tranny fluid change the filter too.

Also check all bushings, hoses, maybe even flush the brake fluid. Normal driving you will not normally have to change brake fluid but its always a good idea.

Fuel filter too.

Flash the PCM!

I noticed with mine that if you decelorate quickly from high speed, when you try to go again it will loose power and you'll think you're going to stall and get broadsided, just as it kicks back in and takes off. Scary the first time it happens

So far the list is

change oil - not due until 81000 but might as well do everything at once

change transmission oil - going synthetic - need suggestions on what brand is best

probably do coolant as i don't remember when it was last changed

Also probably go new plugs and wires - thinking of bosch + 4 but don't have any idea on what wire.

Fuel filter needs changed as well

How do i flash the PCM???

Look at brake fluid: If it is dark brown (or darker) bleed it out until it is nice and clear. New brake fluid is light brown in color and almost transparent. The dark color means it has absorbed water and can start to corrode brake components.

Mine was dark at 80K.

Flashing the PCM and/or GEM

You'll have to take it to a Ford Dealership

Prolly 'cause I recommended it.

The PCM or GEM or both, I might have mixed up terms controls many things and Needs to be updated.

One of the problems that I have that it will solve is if you are going 70mph and stop quickly, the truck will bog down and almost kill once to try to take off.

It fixes little things.
