As the title suggests, I must change the a4ld transmission in my 88 4wd Ranger. I picked up a used transmission at the local parts yard. It came out of a newer Explorer, 4.0 engine.
I understand that the newer version of the transmission is supposed to be an improvement, so that part is good. Everything looks identical to the old one with the exception of the shift lever, which points down instead of up.
I believe I can transfer the original shift lever to the new transmission, correct? Looking for any tips, suggestions, pitfalls to avoid, etc. Thanks!
