88 ranger xlt
I mistakenly posted this question in the registry area.
I just got an 88 ranger xlt that i plan on using as a rec/utility vehicle. took it off road today and I think I either trashed the wheel berrings or the axle on the pass side. not sure which and need some advice as to how to tell. Is it an easy fix or best left to a pro? I have all the tools and am a fair mechanic, not familliar with the ranger or 4x4.. Any insight would be a huge help.
Thanks

Why you think the bearings are trashed? Can you describe to us what it's doing?
Is it lifted or stock? What front axle does it have, D28 or D35? Which engine?

Thanks for the reply. The truck is lifted, I belive it has dana 28. Going down the trail, I heard a pop, and when I got back on to the pavement there was a grinding. I pulled the drivrs side wheel and hub and there is a little play, mostly in-out. lifted the pass side and saw a gap of 1/2-2/3" between the shaft and knuckle. When I rotate the wheel the shaft turns sporadicaly, like its half connected.
