90 Ranger 4.0 swap

Hello, I am new to this forum so bare with me. I just purchased a very clean 1990 extra cab ranger. however the 2.9L is toast. Manual 5 speed, A/C. I am sure this is an over done question on this forum BUT.... any advise on what year 4.0 to look for so I can minimize the struggle with computer wiring, and general fitness. Thanks.

90-91 4.0L would be the easiest.
