I am new to this site and am still learning. I tried to find as much as I could but got no real answer that applied to me. Maybe its out there and I just can't find it?! Anyway my 4 wheel drive is not working at all. I have an automatic transmission with auto 4x4 and Low. There are no clicks, no sounds, no lights, nadda! I have tried putting it in Drive, Neutral, Reverse, having the car on/off...etc. I can't even get so much as the light on the auto 4x4 to go on. I also had a friend check if power was actually getting to the switch and he said there was deffinately power to the switch but from there we both have no idea. Checked the fuse, and that's about all I know to check. I also made sure it was plugged in by the transfercase underneath and all seems well.

Any answers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Since you said your 4x4 don't work:

If you don't KNOW how it's suppose to operate:

To shift from 2WD to 4x4:

To shift into 4x4, push the 4x4 button located on the instrument panel. This shift can be done at a stop or at speeds up to 55 MPH (88 km/h).

To shift from 4x4 to 2WD:

Push the 4x4 button; the 4x4 lamp on the instrument cluster will go out indicating the vehicle is in 2WD. This can be done at any speed. To disengage the automatic locking hubs, operate the vehicle in 2WD in the opposite direction for approx. 10 feet (3 meters) in a straight line.

To shift from 4x4 to 4x4 LOW RANGE:

Stop the vehicle and place the automatic transmission in NEUTRAL or depress the clutch on vehicles with a manual transmission. Push the LOW RANGE button on the instrument panel to shift the transfer case from 4x4 to 4x4 LOW RANGE. Both the 4x4 and LOW RANGE lights are now lit.

NOTE: The vehicle must already be in 4x4 before pushing the Low Range button.

To shift from 4x4 LOW RANGE to 4x4:

Stop the vehicle and place the automatic transmission into NEUTRAL or depress the clutch on vehicles with a manual transmission. Push the LOW RANGE button on the instrument panel to shift the transfer case from 4x4 LOW RANGE to 4x4.

From the 1994 Owner's Manual.

Aloha, Mark

open the compartment in the back where the jack and tire iron are and have a friend sit back there while you hit the button,

the click my computer made was really faint. but it was doing it and the shift motor fix solved my problem.
