with factory AC, Federal smog
I have noticed that in cold weather
with the control to full hot and the
outlet set to full windshield defrost,
but the AC light (that is working) not
on -- AC not manually engaged -- that
the AC compressor clutch does engage.
I have the factory (Helms OE) shop manual
set, but have not been able to verify
that this system is designed to automatically
engage the AC to dry the defroster air (some
vehicles do, some do not). Is this
the way the system is supposed to operate,
or is there a probable short somewhere?
