Do you feel the motor pulling? You know, like a power brake? Or is it taching high as if it were in park of/nuetral?

changed the fluid and filter. no pulling,SLIGHT change in idle when going thru the motions of p r n d. could it be a transfer case issue? its 4x4, automatic hubs but hubs gone when I got it, was told it was ok to drive around town without the lockout hubs. Hey, I'm a girl! I've read the haynes manual but I'd be better off reading sterio instructions!!! thanks for any and all input!!

park the ranger on level ground, let the truck warm up, check your fluid as said above. I had an old econoline and I would warm it up in the morning before work. Well the shifter linkage was a bit off and it was actually in reverse not park. I was switching plates from one car to the next, all the sudden click, bang, I jumped up on the hood of the other car as the van smatched into my other car. So make sure your fluid level is right.
