'91 XLT, 185,000 miles. Won't pass smog and the People's Republik of Kalifornia pasted me as a 'gross polluter' (sheesh...).
The truck has brand new plugs (Motorcraft platinum) and plug wires, new filters, I cleaned the MAF, new fuel pressure regulator, etc. Runs great and gets about 17.5 mpg highway.
It flunked smog on excessive HC and CO, so there is unburned fuel coming from somewhere. I am thinking that I ix-nayed the cat converter when I ran it for awhile with a jacked-up pressure regulator.
Where do I start looking? Can I diagnose this without a gas analyzer and a full diagnostic?
