Now, I know I'm new here, so before I hear too much about my user name, I want to point out that between family and friends, I regularly tinker with 3 explorers, so cut me some slack...
Anyway, a friend of mine drives a '92 XLT, with about 140,000mi. As of a few weeks ago, regardless of the positon of the temperature or air direction sliders, the fan would only operate when the dial was set to the highest setting.
Blower resistor, you say? I thought so too. $18 dollars and 20 minutes later, the problem was solved. BUT, it returned about three days later. All the wiring I can get at seems fine, so I'm guessing the resistor has blown again. Before I pop in another one, can anyone hazard a guess as to if this might be the case, and if so, what the cause might be? Possibly a bad blower motor, or even switch?
Thanks in advance for your help.
