Ok, here is what is going on.
dropped the fuel tank today to fix a leak on th fuel pump lines. actually had the pump out and sending unit rebuilt.
put everything back together and no start. she turns and turns and makes an odd little kick but no go.
any ideas ?
at the schrader valve on the right side of the engine(fuel rail) i have gas.
i have bleed it off.....then i turn the key to see if it pressurizes again and it does.
while the key is on and i depress this valve should i get a constant stream of gas ?

anyhow, help me i nee d the truck back on the road asap.

Those are all consistent with proper fuel delivery operation. Have you hooked up a gauge to see what the actual pressure is? A stream of gas from the Schrader valve verifies that the fuel rail is receiving pressure, but it doesn't tell you how much pressure. It also doesn't tell you if there is enough volume being delivered to maintain that pressure while the engine is starting/running.
Another possibility is that the fuel rail is getting pressure, but the fuel injectors aren't receiving/responding to the signal to open and deliver fuel to the cylinders. Easiest "quick and easy" test for the fuel injectors is to listen to them with a stethoscope.
Of course, all this assumes that the no start is a result of no fuel to the cylinders. Have you verified spark?

try to start it a shoot starting fluid down the throttle body snout.... if it runs, its a fuel delivery problem....

if my filter was getting clogged or clogged could this cause the problem? i do have gas an pressure at the rail though. should i look at the filter ?

If it doesn't maintain pressure while trying to start, that would point to a restriction in the fuel supply to the fuel rail, quite possibly the fuel filter.

i agree fuel filter...its a cheap replace even if you dont need it...
this is wayyy out but could the fuel pump cutoff have something to do with this? removing the fuel pump could have the same effect on the cutoff switch as an accident. i believe the switch is somewhere under passenger floor mats near the top, almost behind the bottom of the dash. i dont know for sure because i never had to look, but it may be your problem...

Did it seem to squirt out with a lot of pressure? You can get a good flow of gas just with buildup of vapor pressure in the tank. The pump will onlu run for a couple of seconds if the engine doesn't start. The fuel rail tap has a schreader valve just like on an inner tube. This can be easily removed if you have a valve stem cap with that little tool on it. Remove gas cap. Then just run a hose into a bottle for a quick flow test. 80% of the fuel pumped goes right back to the gas tank so it is doubtful it is a fuel filter problem (unless your tank was filled with water).
