alright so i am doing a tranny rebuild but i am haveing problems sliding the 2nd clutch pack back into place. it will not line up for what ever reason. i have rebuilt multiple other trannies but this one is just being a ***** :( . any info on this would be much appreciated.

thank you so much for you time.

I bet your problem child is the forward ring gear and it's splining into the clutch frictions. The general consensus is that the entire forward geartrain (sun shell and reverse drum and everything inside) should be assembled on the bench as a unit, and then carefully installed into the case during assembly.

My least favorit part of any tranny is getting a hub to slide down into the frictions. All but impossible to assemble with it INSIDE the case. I've done it, but it can be very frustrating.

The assembled unit is VERY heavy... some guys have rigged up little slings out of string to lower it into place. They went to a snap shell design on later trannies to avoid this problem.
