I have had the x for 2 weeks now and when i got it the fluid was black and burnt. I opted to try a full fluid exchange and filter which seemed to help but not for long. Today it was slipping from the first start and only got worse. Im surprised i made it home as i was running about 4k rpm just to move. It now slips in all gears including reverse. Im pretty sure im going to need another tranny whic a guy i know has one for $200.00 including the transfer case. but before i jump into replacing it i am going to pull the pan again tomorrow and remove the valve body. Im probably being overly optimistic but am hoping to find the vb gasket is bad. Once i remove the vb is there anything i will be able to see such as bands or anything that would point me in the right direction? Also would the gasket be obvious if its bad? One last thought, how would i know if the torque converter is bad? Thanks in advance!

If you drove very far with that kind of slipping at high RPM the clutches are probably burned up.
