I was backing out of a parking space and the engine died on me and would not start back it turns over fine. My first thought was that it might be the fuel pump as I can not hear it priming up when I turn the key on. After pulling it back to the house i pulled a spark plug to see if it was getting a spark at all and it was not. Sooo does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be or has anyone had this problem before?

...does it seem to crank a little faster than normal??? like it cranks reall easy???

thanks for the welcome

it will turn over but will not fire up like i said i pulled the the spark plug ( and put it back in the plug wire) and held it to a ground to check for a spark while trying to crank and there was no spark so no im thinking that it might be something other than the fuel pump

...just me thinking here but you might have lost a timing chain at worst case senerial...that is why i was asking if it seemed to crank faster... or, if it is not cranking normally strong, it could be cables or coil....

im pretty sure the chain is ok it turns over the same as it always has just wont fire up

...this could be a tough one then but could be cheap to fix...you are sure you are getting fuel??? if you are, then check the coil pack, make sure it is tight, check all the wires...when you crank the motor your interior dome light stays on???

well thats part of the prob im not sure if its getting fuel or not i cant hear the pump prime up when i turn the key to the "on" position im going to check the fuel presure tonight to make sure if it is working or not

Fuel pump not running and no spark strongly suggest to me that there is a problem with the EEC power supply. both the ICM (controls spark) and the fuel pump relay get power through the EEC relay. Does the "check engine" light come on before you start it (suggesting that the computer is getting power)?

i beleive it does ill have to check tonight
